El Real Instituto de Arquitectos Británicos ha anunciado los 54 ganadores de los Premios Nacionales RIBA 2021, destacando la mejor arquitectura nueva del Reino Unido. Desde viviendas unifamiliares y proyectos de vivienda hasta instalaciones educativas, edificios culturales, instalaciones deportivas y centros médicos, los proyectos de este año ilustran una creciente preocupación por la restauración y la reutilización adaptativa, así como una importante inversión en educación y cultura. Inaugurados en 1966, los premios brindan información sobre el entorno arquitectónico del Reino Unido y las tendencias económicas que dan forma a la industria AEC.
"Desde nuevos diseños radicales y de vanguardia hasta restauraciones ingeniosas y creativas que dan nueva vida a los edificios históricos, estos proyectos ilustran la importancia y el impacto perdurables de la arquitectura británica", dice el presidente de RIBA, Simon Allford. Los Premios Nacionales RIBA 2021 tienen como objetivo mostrar un alto estándar en arquitectura en todas las escalas, programas y presupuestos. Los ganadores ahora serán considerados para el Premio RIBA Stirling, cuya lista final será anunciada el 16 de septiembre.
La arquitectura de larga duración y de bajo consumo energético es el presente y el futuro. Por lo tanto, es muy alentador ver que la restauración y la adaptación sensible se destacan de manera tan prominente este año, con muchos edificios reconociendo su historia, las necesidades del presente y el potencial de su futuro dinámico. El arte y la cultura enriquecen nuestras vidas, por lo que después de 18 meses de restricciones y aislamiento, ¡la variedad de nuevos museos, galerías y espacios para espectáculos de calidad es excelente para ver y visitar!
